Manager Contents User Contents |
The optional Component Management feature adds two new data entities to the CATSWeb system: components and subcomponents. A system may have any number of component records, and each component record may have any number of child subcomponent records. Components and subcomponents are managed via the Component Management link in the Special Functions section of the Manage page. Component and Subcomponent records may be used for any application in which additional administrator-defined configuration information is needed. Components and subcomponent functionality is usually implemented via Event Hooks or Drill Down Links that utilize ActiveX DLL , Web Service, Stored Procedure or URL data links. AssurX or 3rd party component developers will typically install component-specific management forms that are accessed via the Component Management feature. These forms can include a link to a component-specific help file which will provide more specific information on the use of those forms. If such a help file exists, a Component Help File or Subcomponent Help File link will appear immediately below the form title and above the first field in the form. Managerial Functional Restrictions and Event Hooks may be used to gate access to the Component Management feature. When the feature is installed, two new entities (Components and Subcomponents) are added to the managerial functional restriction entity list, allowing Add, Edit, Delete and View capabilities to be restricted in the usual way. The Component Management link itself may be restricted via its field definition in the CATSWeb Manager Main Page Special Functions listing (access this listing via the Special Functions button on the Manage page). You can choose to limit who can modify specific Components or Subcomponents by specifying ownership. |
