Managing Personalities

The Personalities pages
, accessed from the User Management section of the Manage page, allow Personalities to be added, edited, and deleted. Personalities serve as templates for CATSWeb Employees. When new Employees are created with a Personality, their initial settings default to those of the Personality. When a Personality is edited and submitted, all Employees with that Personality are automatically updated as well.

Multiple Employee Personalities

When the optional Multiple Employee Personalities feature is installed, Employees may be assigned many Personalities, just as they can be assigned to multiple Departments. Employees with many Personalities can change their current Personality from the CATSWeb Home page if they have been granted the Choose Personality permission.

When Employees with many Personalities login, they receive the permissions, record access restrictions and search restrictions currently defined in their Employee record. Field and functional restrictions that are based on Personalities are enforced based on the Default Personality (if any) defined in the Employee record.

If an Employee later changes their Personality from the CATSWeb Home page, they receive the permissions, record access restrictions and search restrictions defined for the new Personality. Field and functional restrictions immediately operate based on the new Personality as well.

Personality changes do not change an Employee's personal preferences that are managed from the My CATSWeb page. However, if a user who had permission to select their own Interface Preference changes to a personality in which that choice is prohibited, the user's Interface Preference will be automatically switched to the system default Interface Preference for the remainder of their CATSWeb session.

Broadcast Message - These fields allow an administrator to send a status message to all employees using the selected Personality. Additional information regarding Broadcast Messages can be found in the Broadcast Message help page.
