Broadcast Status Messages allow administrators to send status messages
that will appear at the top of the users screen. These messages will appear
upon the next page load for users who are logged in, and upon login for
users who are not currently logged into CATSWeb. Messages may be sent
to individual users, all users within a department, all users logged in with
a given personality, all users within a group, or all users within CATSWeb.

Employee Status Message Fields The following fields
in the Employee record allow for sending of Broadcast Status Messages to
a single employee. Note that messages are not stored in the Employee record.
- Status Message
Requires Confirmation - This setting requires the user to acknowledge
the message by click a button within the message. When this setting
is used, Broadcast Expiration Date and Message Display Count are ignored.
- Defer Broadcast
Until - The message will not appear until the specified date. Leave
blank to display the message immediately.
- Broadcast
Message Title - The title to be shown in the Broadcast Message.
If multiple messages are present the message box title will be "Status
Messages" and the provided message titles will appear at the beginning
of each message (e.g. "Message Title: The message")
- Broadcast
Message -
The
message to be displayed.
HTML can be used in this field.
- Broadcast
Expiration Date - The Broadcast Message will expire and be removed
on this date. Message Display Count is ignored if a Broadcast Expiration
Date is provided.
- Message Display Count -
Determines the number of times to display the message. If the user does
not acknowledge the message, it will be displayed for the number of
page loads specified. This setting is ignored if Status Message Requires
Confirmation or Broadcast Expiration Date are used.
Department Status Message Fields
The following fields in the Department record allow for sending of Broadcast
Status Messages to all employees within a department.
- Broadcast Message Enabled - This setting enables or disables
the Broadcast Message. Administrative messages are displayed until they
expire or until they are disabled by an administrator.
- Defer Broadcast Until - The message will not appear until
the specified date. Leave blank to display the message immediately.
- Broadcast Message Title - The title to be shown in the Broadcast
Message. If multiple messages are present the message box title will
be "Status Messages" and the provided message titles will
appear at the beginning of each message (e.g. "Message Title: The
message")
